Can you bring a water bottle on a plane?
Yes — with one condition that catches most travellers out. Here is how to fly with your own bottle.

Empty is fine; full is not
An empty bottle passes through security without trouble. What is not allowed is a bottle filled with more than 100 ml of liquid at the screening point.
Refill after security
Most airports provide water fountains past security, so the simplest approach is to travel with the bottle empty and fill it at the gate.
